One of the most important aspects of the Water Conservation Challenge is promoting water conservation in the larger community. The best way to do this is with the help of local media. In June 2009 when I first did this there was substantial interest from the media and this can be true where you are too! One of the first things campaigners should try to do is find a recognizable organization as a partner. Last year I did this with UNICEF and it brought substantial legitimacy to the project; you may also consider taking monetary pledges for this organization to help ensure clean, accessible water for those in need. I Below is a template press release. Change as much or as little as you want to best target media in your community. Make sure you scour the web and find ever media outlet available to send your press release too. If possible, address it personally to each addressee, this can go a long way. And don’t forget to update them all closer to the end of the month as well. Good luck!
